A.1 How do I get my music on Xfm?
You can either send an mp3 of the track (192kbps or better) to the music coordinator or else post a hard copy on CD to “Music Coordinator, Xfm 100.2, No. 24, A Cuschieri Street, Fleur-De-Lys, Birkirkara, BKR 4916, Malta”

All music submissions must be accompanied by contact details, clear artist and track name, artist website/myspace links and a profile of information about the act. Also, when submitting an album or EP please make sure you let us know which track you want to submit as we can't choose for you.

Before any song can make it to our playlist it will first need the approval of our music board. All songs local or otherwise are fairly considered on merit by our panel – if it doesn't make it to air then it hasn't met their high standards or doesn't fit with our music policy.

A.2 Will organising a meeting with the manager help to get my music played?
We do not organize one-to-one meetings with artists both due to the amount of music we receive and since all the submissions will still need to pass through the same selection process. You can however send us information about your submission or band.

A.3 Can you give me feedback about my new song?
Because of the volume of submissions we receive we are not able to provide individual feedback on songs. We are not here to judge you as an artist so please understand that we do not provide feedback on submitted tracks.

A.4 Did my song make it in the playlist?
If you have submitted a song and want to check if it has made it to our playlist please check the playlist section of the website or tune in to 100.2 regularly. Please understand that due to the increasing number of submissions it is not possible to contact you back.

A.5 Are there any restrictions on the type of music that can be submitted?
Unless a track contains vulgar lyrics we take into consideration all types of music. All the music submissions we receive are treated equally and judged by a professional music panel according to the station standards.

A.6 What song was played at X time?
Although we'd love to help you, we play so much music on Xfm, that we simply don't have the manpower to track down every request for song information. We suggest that you either check out the playlist page or else try doing an internet search for the lyrics of the song that you remember.

A.7 I would like to start playing my new track on a particular date, when should I submit it?
We do not air songs on particular dates since our playlist is updated at a pre-defined time . All new submissions are reviewed on a first come first served basis every 10 days.

A.8 How do I get my music on the Homegrown page?
Whenever you submit a track for playlisting we will also be considering the song for inclusion on the Homegrown page. Please submit an mp3 version of the track, a short profile of information, links to your website/myspace and a good quality photo to the music coordinator.

A.9 Why wasn't my song playlisted?
Xfm is a commercial station that follows a very specific music format; therefore we are very selective in what music gets played. Songs which are not playlisted simply do not meet our music polices.

B.1 I sent you an e-mail but I never got a reply, why is that?
We receive large quantities of e-mail every day and it is sometimes not possible to reply to everyone. Please make sure you do not send us e-mail through microsoft accounts such as hotmail, live or msn as these may be filtered out. For sales queries please call our sales team on 21 378 163 or 21 378 165.

C.1 I cannot listen to the online streaming since I access the website through a Mac, what can I do?
Although we do not offer direct support for this option there are some work arounds that you can do yourself to get the streaming working on a Mac:

  1. First download and install the Flip4Mac plugin.
  2. Open QuickTime Player, then use File: Open URL (or just hit Command-U)
  3. Type in the Xfm stream URL mms://212.56.136.20/x-fm then click OK. The URL will take a while to open; be patient, let it buffer as needed.
  4. Save the stream as a .mov file using File: Save As, etc. Just save it to your Desktop as an ordinary .mov file; name it as you'd like.
  5. Drag the .mov file you just created into your iTunes Library.
  6. Play the movie file in iTunes. It will again take some time to buffer and stream, and it will not show up in iTunes as a streaming radio URL, but it will play as one.
